Director of Cost Estimating

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, flexible and reliable individual experienced in estimating and interested in contemporary architecture. The Director of Cost Estimating is equipped with excellent quantity surveying skills and an outstanding commercial acumen. Mathematics and IT skills are important, as is a strong problem solving ability as well as keen attention to detail. Excellent organizational and communication skills are crucial. The Director of Cost Estimating manages all incoming proposals, provides detailed estimates and makes sure that all deadlines are met.


- Manage all incoming proposals and provide high-end solutions in a timely manner
- Identify and quantify all cost factors
- Use computer software to prepare estimates and supporting documentation
- Provide detailed estimates, change orders and installation quotes
- Read blueprints and technical documents
- Work with architectural drawings, specifications and shop drawings
- Evaluate the profitability and viability of the product and service
- Work in collaboration with Sales Department, Engineering Department and Project Management to provide high-end customized solutions
- Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence and other specific information


- Highly organized, great management skills
- Ability to read, interpret and understand architectural drawings and specifications
- Interest in contemporary architecture
- Strong geometry and mathematical skills, great with numbers
- Excellent computer skills, especially Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, German is a plus
- Detail oriented
- Understanding of glass and its performance
- AutoCAD experience required
- Knowledge of aluminum glazing systems and their applications is an advantage
- Prior estimating experience with window and glazing manufacturer is a plus
- Degree in Construction, Architectural or Engineering field preferred
